Built with care
Quality in the work. Care for the people. A contribution to the communities around us.
Quality checked throughout the build.
Quality assurance covers construction, handover and the response to defects after completion. Inspection records and photographic evidence help teams identify issues, agree the next action and track the work through to completion.
Our teams record real-time inspections, quality checks, safety observations, audits and progress in cloud-based construction-management systems. GPS-tagged photographs and digital records create a clear inspection trail.
Our quality assurance team coordinates inspections and defects response, with procurement, commercial and site teams sharing responsibility for materials, workmanship and handover.
“The units handed over have been some of the best quality units [the client] have built.”
Client site-meeting feedback on homes handed over at Trevithick Manor Farm, Newquay.
The meeting record set this quality as the benchmark for subsequent plots, with Poltair aiming to meet or improve on it.
Digital records. Earlier action.
Our teams record inspections, photographs and actions throughout the build. This helps identify issues earlier, track the response and keep a clear record for handover.
We use AI-assisted analysis of site data to identify trends and flag potential quality or safety concerns for the project team. These tools support informed decisions, ongoing improvement and risk management.
Health and safety is part of the plan.
Our construction and technical leadership oversees construction, technical matters and health and safety. Site teams manage programme, quality, safety and welfare as part of day-to-day delivery.
An external health and safety consultant supports site setup, training, inspections and reporting. The company’s health and safety policy is reviewed by the board annually in January.
The construction team plans site access, deliveries and the sequence of work around the location and the people nearby. Clear responsibilities, safety observations and inspection records support that work.
Skills, respect and a voice in the work.
We work respectfully with employees, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, clients, stakeholders and public bodies. People are encouraged to raise concerns and contribute ideas, with fair accountability and open communication.
Our employee handbook provides access to a training bursary for staff who want to develop their careers. We support apprenticeships within our own team and through subcontractors, alongside school work-experience opportunities.
Local trades are used wherever practical. This supports local skills and pride in the work, and can reduce travel associated with the supply chain. Fair and timely payments to subcontractors and suppliers form part of our commercial and finance responsibilities.
Construction into the classroom.
Our community engagement team coordinates school and community activities. Working with local schools and their management teams, we introduce the range of careers construction offers: site work, materials, finance, design, technical work, carbon reduction, project management and environmental planning.
Polly Bear helps younger children learn the basics of building through practical, enjoyable activities. Children taking part receive a Polly Bear and a certificate.
A Christmas house-colouring competition for children aged four to seven included gift-token prizes for two winners. Eighteen entries were displayed at Morrisons on Treloggan Road in Newquay, with prizes provided by Poltair.
Community engagement and training opportunities develop alongside our construction work, helping young people see a place for themselves in the industry.
